#LetUsPlay

March 21, 2018
Below is an important announcement from the Kent FA which Bredhurst Juniors fully endorse. Please take time to read this message.

Following months of discussions between Kent FA and children and young people about their game, one comment was persistent throughout - “I wish our coaches would just let us play.”

In Kent we have over 5,000 coaches providing football to over 60,000 young players. While the majority of these volunteers create a safe, fun and inclusive environment, too many young people have stories of negative experiences.

Kent FA gave nine randomly selected children from across the county, of varying ages, the opportunity to speak openly about their best and worst times playing in youth football.

Luke Baker, Youth and Mini-Soccer Football Development Officer said, “It’s crucial that we not only give our children and young people a voice to express themselves, but act on what they say so we create the best environment for them to enjoy and learn in.”

When given a pla1orm to discuss their experiences, the young people told stories ranging from opposition managers instructing an eight year old to bite another player, to girls being told they shouldn’t play because, “it’s really a boys thing.” To some adults these comments may seem
insigni3cant, but it has been obvious that these are messages that stay with children.

Natalie Curtis, Football Development Officer for Inclusion and Respect said, “With the Respect programme being 8 years old, it is important that as society changes, we, as football, change too. #LetUsPlay is another fantastic initiative developed by the children of Kent to remind us of the importance of positive and encouraging behaviour that they need from their touchlines.”

We hope that by taking just a few minutes to listen to how our children and young people feel when derogatory, negative or threatening comments are used against them, we can improve our youth football environment for the better.

Players Elite Academy Offer to Bredhurst Juniors FC

September 23, 2017
The message below is from Players Elite Academy:

We are players elite academy which was set up by professional players looking to give something back to the local area, they are Andrew Crofts, Chris Solly & Rob Elliott.

In order to support and drive the best possible standards and grow and nurture new talent, grass roots remains a key focus at players elite academy.

To help generate a strong platform and relationship with local grass roots teams we want to bring our coaching team and professional environment to you in the local area, so what does this mean? Well players elite academy aim to meet with your coaching teams and support local team and player sessions and show how we can help move these young players forward together.

We know sometimes it can be hard for parents who are the managers/coaches to always be able to put training sessions on because of work commitments and can be a new environment that they are not used to and this is where we would love to help by inviting your team in and putting on training sessions for you and involving the manager/coach to also learn as well as the players. It could mean sometimes if you are unable to train because of work commitments etc that your team doesn't miss out. It could also be a situation that your team are struggling with certain situations on a match day that you can't put a training session on to improve this but we think we would be able to do this with our team of quality coaches.

The first session will be free of charge and then moving forward will be £5 for members and £7.50 for non members per player and will be held at Anchorians on the AstroTurf pitch where trainers/astro trainers are only permitted no boots. We are very excited about this night and hope to make a real difference to the local grass root teams in the area. It will start from Friday 29th Sept and will start from being 6.15-7.45 and will be every Friday moving forward on school terms. There will be Uefa qualified coaches present so if you are interested contact robert@lsmsupport.co.uk or check out our website at playerseliteacademy.co.uk

Many thanks and we hope to see you soon.
